Kenya Unveils East Africa’s First AI-Powered 256-Slice CT Scanner at Nairobi Hospital
In a groundbreaking move for healthcare in the region, Kenya’s Health Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Aden Duale, has officially commissioned East Africa’s first AI-powered 256-slice CT scanner at The Nairobi Hospital.
This state-of-the-art machine is set to transform how critical conditions like cancer and kidney diseases are detected and managed. The high-tech CT scanner uses Artificial Intelligence to produce clearer, faster, and more detailed images, allowing doctors to diagnose illnesses with unmatched accuracy and speed — while exposing patients to less radiation.
What makes this achievement even more significant is that Social Health Authority (SHA) patients will benefit from subsidised access to advanced diagnostic services for cancer and kidney care, easing the burden on thousands of Kenyans who often struggle with high treatment costs and long waiting times.
