Alleged Nairobi Goon Leader Swaleh Sonko Flees to Homa Bay, Vows to Support Gen Z Protesters
Alleged Nairobi goon ring leader Swaleh Sonko has retreated into a self-imposed exile at his rural home in Homa Bay County. This follows claims that he has received threats from unknown people in Nairobi after being linked to groups accused of infiltrating peaceful demonstrations.
In a now-viral video making rounds on social media, Swaleh is seen walking around his village homestead, appearing remorseful and speaking to young people directly. In a calm yet emotional tone, he pleaded with the youth for forgiveness and understanding.

"Najua mimi si youth lakini mimi ni kijana… sitaki chuki na vijana," Swaleh Sonko said, acknowledging that although he may not be part of Gen Z, he relates to their struggles and frustrations.
He went on to declare that he would stand with the youth in the upcoming June 25th anti-government protests, pledging solidarity: “Inshallah, tutashirikiana na nyinyi.”
Swaleh’s retreat and unexpected statement have sparked mixed reactions online, with some praising his humility while others remain skeptical of his motives.
