Kindiki Flies to Uganda to Represent Kenya at Museveni’s Swearing-In Ceremony
Kenya’s Deputy President Kithure Kindiki departed Nairobi on the morning of Tuesday, May 12, 2026, heading to Entebbe to represent Kenya and President William Ruto at the swearing-in and inauguration ceremony of Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni.
The high-profile event is scheduled to take place at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala and is expected to bring together regional leaders, diplomats, and dignitaries from across Africa.
In a statement shared via his Facebook account on Tuesday morning, Kindiki confirmed his departure on behalf of the Kenyan government.
“Departed Nairobi for Entebbe, Uganda, to represent Kenya and President William Ruto during the swearing-in and inauguration of President Yoweri Museveni, Kololo Ceremonial Grounds,” he stated.
Uhuru Kenyatta Among Leaders Attending
Former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta is also among the prominent leaders attending the ceremony.
According to a statement released by his office via X on Monday, May 11, 2026, Uhuru had already arrived in Kampala ahead of the event.
He was received upon arrival by Ambassador Katureebe Tayebwa alongside Ambassador Kipkosgei Toroitich.
The statement noted:
“H.E. President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta, the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya, has arrived in Kampala to join fellow leaders, government officials, and dignitaries for the presidential inauguration ceremony of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.”
