“Online People Support Breakups”: Dem Wa Facebook Explains Why She Hides Her Boyfriend From Social Media
Popular digital content creator and comedian Millicent Ayuwa, popularly known as Dem Wa Facebook, has opened up about why she has deliberately chosen to keep her relationship away from social media despite being deeply in love.
Speaking candidly during an interview, the comedian explained that she is not hiding her boyfriend but instead protecting her peace, relationship and personal life from unnecessary online pressure.
According to Dem Wa Facebook, social media users rarely support healthy relationships and instead thrive on gossip, criticism and breakup rumours.
“I’m not hiding the man; mimi niliamua tu privacy. Am not hiding him because he is the best man; I love him, and he is very caring,” she said.

According to her, people online often criticise appearance, compatibility and even posting habits between couples.
“Online people do not support relationships; they support break-up,” Dem Wa Facebook stated.
She further explained that negative comments from strangers can slowly influence someone’s thinking and create doubt within a relationship.

According to her, people online can easily connect someone’s partner to other individuals seen together at public events or social gatherings.
She added that even going a few weeks without posting a partner can quickly trigger breakup rumours online.
“Tena akikaa ka two weeks bila kukupost wataanza rumours, wameachana, siku hizi hawaendi mahali pamoja,” she explained.
Dem Wa Facebook said this is one of the reasons she prefers keeping her personal and family life away from public attention.
